The Best Video Games of 2019

2018 was a colossal year for the release of video games, but this dynamic industry is not known for standing on its laurels and 2019 looks as though it may even eclipse last year in terms of innovative and exciting games releases. In a time when the world does not seem so pretty, the new influx of games is exactly what we need. The 2019 releases are there to inspire, inform, and comfort and so far, they are doing a really good job.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is like a video version of the action-packed John Wick movies. The gunplay is second to none as you move from battle to battle scenarios. Just simple skirmishes can end up in a non-stop tirade of bullets and player enjoyment is enhanced by character powers and a whole range of top-range weaponry. The best part of this game is that it is completely free to play.

A Plague Tale: Innocence

This is the story of two orphans who are desperate to get away from the Inquisition. Not only that, France in the 14th Century is racked by the Black Death and millions are dying. The grim scene is set, and the player has to navigate the characters Amicia and Hugo through many sequences that are both daunting and challenging. The whole thing sounds like a period soap opera but in reality, this game is about stealth and skill. Trying to get free from mazes, meet new companions, and defeat the Inquisition is far from easy which makes this game so compelling.

Art Sqool

Art Sqool is probably the most unique game to have been released in the past few years. The player takes the identity of Froshmin, who is a student at the art school. The player is tasked with completing numerous artsy tasks which are supposed to develop your art skills to a much higher level. All in all, Art Sqool is great fun to play and is very whimsical throughout. However, it can be a really frustrating experience playing this game as there are many critiques and bad grades can set you back.

Baba Is You

Baba is a cute and cuddly rabbit-like creature and the player has to guide him through all sorts of tests and games. The rules of the game are quite simple, Flag is a win, Rock is there to push, and Wall means stop. Baba has to push rocks out of the way to touch the flags and move to the next level. However, there is a big secret to this game and that every word that appears on screen is a movable title. This means you can change the rules to suit yourself, so the game becomes completely different. This makes the game truly addictive as it changes every time you play it. These games are among the first releases of 2019, and if this is the benchmark of what is to come, then 2019 is set to be one of the best gaming years ever.
